Philippine Information Technology General Certification Examination or “PHIL-IT GCE”
Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT) in collaboration with www.itpros.ph, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), and the European IT Service Center Foundation (EITSC)
The PHIL-IT GCE may be considered as an overall evaluation of the graduate’s level of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning as specified in B.S. Computer Science; B.S. Computer Engineering; B.S. Information Technology; and, B.S. Information Management curricula, as well as the graduate’s knowledge, skills, and attitudes pertinent to advanced or latest trends in IT as required by industry. The PHIL-IT GCE consists of a cluster of “generic examinations” that likewise assesses the graduate’s overall readiness to become a professional in both IT subjects and non-IT subjects. In a way, the PHIL-IT GCE serves as an interim solution for the need for a board examination, testing the IT skills of Filipino would-be professionals, with IT skills set by Filipino IT professionals, yet addressing international industry benchmarks.
The PHIL-IT GCE is an entry-level professional competency standards and examinations for graduates/graduating of B.S. Computer Science; B.S. Computer Engineering; B.S. Information Technology; and, B.S. Information Management courses -- recent or otherwise, employed and unemployed -- from the major colleges and universities nationwide who are qualified to take the PHIL-IT GCE as the viable and credible measure of their preparedness, commitment, and competency to enter the world of IT professionals.

The PHIL-IT GCE will be available for IT colleges/universities that are members of CEDF-IT and those who are interested to take the exam.
No prior certification needed. Being a generic examination, the PHIL-IT GCE is an excellent preparation for first level examinations in other IT areas – programming, systems administration and design, etc.
For the student => The price of Three Hundred Pesos (P 300.00) Examination Fee shall be charged to cover basic exam fee if exam is taken in Cebu City, inclusive of issuance of Certificate of Entry-Level Competency for those who pass the examination. By making available an affordable and accessible set of entry-level professional competency standards and examinations, the project hopes to benefit the IT academic community, motivating it thus to improve its curriculum and teaching in the light of measurable indicators from graduates passing or failing the PHIL-IT GCE; and, the IT industry and other businesses desiring to employ competent IT professionals that shall thenceforth be equipped with a set of pre-employment generic testing instruments that confirm entry level readiness for employment.
